Beasley Karate

The Beasley Karate Program originated at the Southeast Dallas YMCA in 1969. Mr. Beasley began taking karate at the "Y" in 1966 under Mr. Mike Steen. Later, as a brown belt instructor, he became head instructor of the class. Mr. Beasley maintained that class on a regular basis as he pursued his education earning a Bachelors Degree in Political Science from East Texas State University and a Juris Doctorate from SMU's School of Law . The Wednesday night Southeast Dallas YMCA karate class was the second longest running karate class/school in the metroplex when the Y closed its doors in 2001. Mr. Beasley continued the class at various locations and now has a program that includes 4 locations in Dallas , Mesquite (2), and Garland . It includes a staff of highly qualified black belt instructors.

The Beasley Karate Program is a descendent of Allen Steen's (The Father of Texas Karate) program. The program teaches American Tae Kwon Do and specializes in sport karate. Beasley Karate also promotes the United States Karate Championships, one of the largest tournaments in the state. Mr. Beasley (Chief Instructor) holds the rank of 6th Dan and has promoted over 40 black belts. Of those black belts, there are 6 Golden Greek Award winners with an accumulated 16 Greek awards. The Golden Greek is the highest award given by the Amateur Organization of Karate and is given to the top black belt point competitors in forms and fighting each year.
